Facilities like parking, changing rooms, toilets, guest rooms, offices, indoor stadium and swimming pool will be made available in the proposed complex.
“The tender for the project will be floated in August,” informed Arlekar while addressing a news conference at his office in Pernem on Monday.
“A women’s sports meet is being conducted every year on the Sawadwada ground, but due to lack of toilet and changing room facilities, sportswomen used to face a lot of hardship. Keeping this in mind, we decided to build the sports complex,” said Arlekar.
Speaking further, Arlekar said facilities will be made available to organise matches like Kabbadi, badminton, basketball and other games at the proposed sports complex. “A football ground will also be built in future,” added Arlekar.
Pernem BJP Mandal president Krishna Gawade, Amit Sawant and others were present at the news conference.
